FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS Thieves who took a truck in Seattle received a sophomoric surprise when they saw what was in the back: a 7-foot-high, 7-foot-long soapbox racer shaped like a toilet. Five friends built the racer in Colorado Springs, Colo. It was stolen when the truck it was sitting in was swiped from their hotel parking lot late last month. “My guess is (they said), ‘Oh, crap, it’s a giant toi let,’” racer Tom Valentine said. NOTED. Some 450 North Dakota high school students played Twister on 180 mats in what they hope will set a world record for the largest Twister game of all time. The mats formed a Twister board measuring 4,699 square feet. The current Twister board record is 2,453 square feet, set in April 2005 in the Netherlands. POLICE LOG ■ People were seen urinating from the roof of a residence at 6:12 p.m. Saturday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state that the indecent exposure was reported at 309 Brookside Drive. ■ Katherine Jennes Ellestad, 25, of 101 Buck Taylor Drive, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired, accord ing to Chapel Hill police reports. Ellestad was arrested at 2:54 a.m. Sunday at 100 W. Franklin St., reports state. She was released on a written promise to appear Dec. 11 in court, according to reports. ■ A Durham man, of 926 Sunstone Drive, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of 2 grams of marijuana, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Bobby Lee Gills, 25, was arrest ed at 7:54 p.m. Saturday at 120-A Forsyth Drive, reports state. Gills was cited and released after an officer found a small bag of marijuana in his right front pocket, according to reports. (Elje lath) (Ear Heel QUOTED. “Strong-arm rob bery? Over a doughnut? That’s impossible. There’s no way I would’ve pushed a woman over a doughnut.” Scott A. Masters, 41, who faces five to 15 years in prison for armed robbery after slip ping the doughnut into his sweatshirt then pushing away a clerk who tried to stop him as he left the store. He is slated to appear Dec. 10 in Hillsborough District Criminal Court, reports state. ■ Someone spray painted undis closed words on Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen, at 1305 E. Franklin St., causing SSO in damage, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state that the vandalism and willful damage to property was reported at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the drive-through. The subject also caused SIOO damage to the driver’s side window of a car nearby, reports state. ■ Alfonza Royal was arrested for panhandling and loitering at 10:38 p.m. Saturday at 175 E. Franklin St., according to Chapel Hill police reports. Royal, 53, whose address was listed as the streets, asked an undercover cop for money and also had an open container of alcohol and drug paraphernalia, reports states. Royal was confined to Orange County Jail in lieu of SIOO bail and is scheduled to appear Dec. 3 in court, reports state.
