Sitter charged with giving child weed
FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
An 18-year-old man from Michigan has pleaded guilts' to giving a 3-year-old
a marijuana cigarette, but because of a plea deal, he will only get proba
tion, YVDIV News in Detroit reported.
. Filipe Garcia was originally charged with felony child abuse after inves
tigators found a videotape of the child smoking marijuana and cigarettes while Garcia
was babysitting. But because prosecutors could not prove beyond a doubt the substance
in the video was marijuana, Garcias was allowed to plea a misdemeanor charge.
Police said that they are concerned with the plea deal and that there is major con
cern over the safety of the child. “Hows that child going to grow up? Will he grow up
smoking anything? Its gonna be tough," police Chief Robert Alderman said.
NOTED. Mesa, Ariz., police have arrested
a man who threw salsa and threatened to kill
employees at a Mexican restaurant if they didn’t
give him food. The Arizona Republic reported.
Jeffrey Charles Dembrosky, 33, entered the
El Taco Tote demanding food. When employees
refused, he tossed salsa and acted like he was
reaching for a gun in his waistband then left.
Police arrested him for attempted robbery.
