Dose Couple risks prison for Thin Mints FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS A group of Colorado Girl Scouts were scammed with a counterfeit SIOO bill used to purchase two boxes of the famous cookies. “A young couple came and purchased two boxes of cookies and left with $93.50 in change,” said Jil Hennessey-Seabolt, the troops cookie director. “They had two boxes of our cookies and a whole bunch of free, really good, spendable money.” Hennessey-Seabolt said the con artists cost the girls a days worth of profit. “This has taught me to be more careful,” Rowan Seabolt, 12, said. “I am not going to check every single bill, but I am going to watch out for suspicious behavior." An anonymous donor later gave the girls SIOO to make up for their losses. NOTED. Georgia police are investigating taxi drivers who deliver beer instead of passengers, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Officer Jose Ayala said police conducting a sting operation placed calls requesting beer to taxi company dispatchers. Three drivers were arrested for selling alcohol without a license .Ayala said the drivers would go to a liquor store, pay about S2O for beer, then charge customers S3O or S4O. Damage to the air condition ing unit at 220 W. Rosemary St. is estimated at S4OO, according to reports. ■ An incident of vandalism and willful damage to property was Shr Daily Oar Uppl reported at 11:40 a.m Wednesday at 303 Englewood Drive, accord ing to Chapel Hill police reports. Reports state the car window of a 2002 black Lexus was shot at. possibly by a BB gun. Damage of S3OO to the windshield was reported. ■ Someone stole a laptop, cal culator and backpack, together valued at $2,445, from a room at the Chi Phi fraternity house, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The larceny was reported at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday at the 300 S. Columbia St. residence, reports state.
