Although the boys did not win the competition, they received an inno vative solution award. Marlow said. “They certainly learned a lot about energy efficiency in buildings.' said Michael Durbin, co-coach of the team and Marlow’s father. “1 think they also learned a sense of respon sibility and civic involvemcnL" Marlow said he was also excited about how much he learned about energy efficiency in the process. The competition wasn't all about work, however. "It takes a lot of time, but it's also a lot of fun," he said. Contact the City Editor at citydesk(a unc.edu. Call 962-0250 News BSM election season kicking off BY ZACK TYMAN STAFF WRITER The second-largest student-run organization on campus will kick off its election season this week. The Black Student Movement will hold a forum Wednesday so its members and the student body can meet prospective candidates. The offices up for grabs include president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The elected execu tive officials will also appoint the offices of executive assistant and parliamentarian. Only a few students have applied, but more have shown interest. “There’s no official candidates for VP right now," Vice President Racine Peters said. “One female said she wanted to run, but hasn't made it official.' The election was pushed back to the week of March 25 because of the group’s +Oth anniversary celebra tions earlier this year, Peters added. BSM members arc eligible to vote in the elections. Registration of new members will be closed in the week leading up to the election. Last year’s elections didn't pro vide much excitement on the cam paign fronts because the candidates for president and vice president ran unopposed, Peters said. "When there’s competition, it gets more intense," she said. “Derek (Sykes) and I didn't have to cam paign as much last year.” Women's hoops See who the Tar Heels will take on in the New Orleans regional.
