Candidates for Homecoming
king and queen will be available
to talk to students at Ram’s Head
Dining Hall tonight during a
meet-and-greet organized by the
Carolina Athletic Association.
“Students should expect to be
able to meet the candidates one
on-one, to discuss with them any
aspect of their service platform and
about what they’d like to see dur
ing their tenure as homecoming
king or queen,” said Jessica King,
CAA Homecoming chairwoman.
All candidates for Homecoming
queen king will begin mingling in
the dining hall at about 5 p.m., 2008
Homecoming royalty chairwoman
Courtney Knowling said.
“It will be an informal walk-up
shake hands, start a conversa
tion while you’re waiting in line
to eat dinner, that sort of thing,”
King said.

soring the meet-and-greet with a
Carolina football theme dinner serv
ing hotdogs and hamburgers.
“Last year we did it out in the
Pit, and we determined that there
was just not enough traffic when it
gets cooler at night,” King said.
So CAA moved the meet-and
greet to Ram’s Head in order to
reach the South Campus crowd.
Candidates will also rotate to the
Ram’s Head lobby to talk to stu
dents who don’t have meal plans.
The event is a chance for die can
didates to spread information about
their platform to a bigger group of
students as opposed to speaking at
club meetings, which is their way of
campaigning, Knowling said.
“I think the purpose of it is to
give the University an opportunity
to make an educated choice when
they vote and really to get the names
of die candidates out,” King said.
