A lecture on "Americanisms" was delivered
last night before the Columbian Literary Club
in the Hope Chapel, Broadway, by Park Ben-
iamin, Esq. The interest properly Dewnging
reputation of the lecturer succeeded in drswing
together an audience, which, if the inclemency
of the weather be taken into account, was by
no means inconsiderable. " Mr. Benjamin's

treatment of the subject matter of his address,
completely won the sympathies of bteaildienc,
and repeatedly elicited their wanri and undis
guised approbation. Mr. B. introduced his
Fedture by a few prefatory remarks expressive
of his regret at the unfavorable state of the
weather, and announcing that on next Tues
day he will tend a humorous and satirical
poem entitled "Modern Society." He pro
ceeded to say that he should endeavor to inte
