The Press says that egg?, owing to their scarcity, sell readily for 18 to 20 cents per doseii. " Poultry is scarce just now, and good prices may be had for nice lots. If you want a good stew, call on F. T. Patterson, next to R.B. Proctor's, and you will be sure to get it. Corn and Cotton in the Washing ton Market. The Press says corn is scarce and a little lower. We hear it can be had for 75 to 80 cents per hushel. Cotton hangs at about j 10 cents per pound. A slight rise one day during the week, but no permanent advauce can be expected. j - . . North Caro lina Steamship Line unloaded her in ward freights at the steamship and rail way docks yesterday, and is loading cot ton at the New River Warehouse. She sails to-day with a full cargo of cotton and other produce, making the fourth steamer out of New Berne thi3 week for points North, and there are plenty of freight for more if we had them. Campbell, of the Gaston House Saloon, put his new pool table to playing last night. Experts pronounce it one of the best; in the State. It is one of Bruns wick's best billiard tables and the work of remodelling and setting it up for a pool table was done by Mr. Fred. Boesser, Jr., in a manner that reflects he highest credit upon his skill as a cabinetmaker and upholsterer, as well as marble worker. Bice Threshing Machine. One of the drawbacks to rice culture in this section has been the want of machinery for threshing out the grain. A rice thresher arrived by the steamer Stout yesterday, consigned to Messrs. Wolfen den and Smallwood, for S. H. Lane, of -. Pamlico, and was shipped to him yesier- day by the consignees. This thresher is of the latest imprdved pattern, and con sisted of thirty packages as shipped.
