T Damages Award KD.Ourrcaders may remem ber that in 1855, two brothers, named Everett, taking offense at some remark of IJatrick McGow an, a mail agent on the Raleigh & Gaston Road, made a joint attack upon McGowan, at Weldon, beating him unmercifully,, so much so, indeed, that his life was despaired of. McGowan sued for damages, claiming $1 0,000. After almost in terminable delays the case was tried ' at the Supe rior Court for AYake Co., held this week at Raleigh, Judge Caldwell on the bench.
