' From our Siecial Correspondent. 1 The debate in the House has worn oat its welcome. Even the prolestariat that eits in the gal- lariC3 is becoming tired. The toes of the mad mob's million feet fronted to the Capitol a few days ago; the track now points m an other direction. There is little to attiact tho spectator. There is no picturesqueness to be found anywhere, nor any violence, nor fdoquence, nor anything that or dinarily attracts the public. From tho spectacular point of view tho extra session of the lif-ty-third Congress is a distinct failure. Grave results depend upon its action, but the calcium lights and stage illustrations are wanting. The unconditional repeal men have been very active. They have done work while other people have talked. A recording committee has been appointed and also a proselyting committee. The duty of the one is to keep a score of available votes; the duty of thq other is to make as many converts as possible. Both are laboring hard. From the uncon ditional repeal standpoint it is a very active canvass. Hero at the National Capitol come indications of a better feel ing throughout the country. The banks aro m improved shape, and the atmosphere around Controller hckle s omce in the Treasury has perceptibly cleared. Every indi cation of a lct-np in the existing stringency, small or great, is an encouraging factor in the situa tion. It may be but a glimpse of the coming dawn, but the morning twilight always bespeaks broad daylight ahead. H affords assurance that the recuperative energy of American jnsopJe may yet obtain mastery ot the cVi conditions with which they are beset; that tlio wonderful re sources of the country aro ulti mately bound to count in tho re versal of trade balances; that the conservative and eonragous action of our great financial institution la coping successfully with the emergency. In the natural order of things, the process of recovery wil bp slow, but the patient possessing the vitality of tho United States cannot always reuwun bed-riddeu.
