Because he does not believe labor to be a crime in the eyes of God, but a compli ance with his strict command; and that the more labor that ia performed in any king dom or commonwealth, the more happy and prosperous are its subjects. j 2odly. Your petitioner's conscience com pels him to say, that he does not prefer one day above another, but that he esteems eve ry day alike; and that he believes any law to compel one citizen of this Commonwealth to foncorm ta the religious opinions of other citizens, is a violation of the 19th section of the hill of rigbis,and utterly repugnant to pur boasted theory cf liberty4of conscience. 3rdly. SUICIDE. We learn that Mrs. Catharine Ray, wife of Mr. Augus Ray, living on Little River in this county, committed suicide by" banging herself a few days ago. j She is supposed to have been partially deranged at the time. Justice is a duty generosity a virtue. Yet the world is too apt to regard the firs' as a favor aod the latter as a folly. Tully attributed all great actions to a di vinus influtus, an actual inspiration from some divinity. An Emblem for America. The late Dr. Thornton, in a letter to Mr. Jefferson, says that the crotolus horridus (rat- commonwealth on Sundays I mean visiting te?nake) bring peculiar to this country, is fishing, hunting, and any thing and every thing-else that can be dut off all; the other days of the week till Sunday he is bound to set down and remain inactive the whole day; and, in sincerity, he can assure the Ge neral Assembly that1 he suffers more bodily pain, and is more tired that day,1 than noy other cay of Ihe week. the finest emblem of the United States that can be found.
