On theyth of November last, I put a letter
into the post office in this place, directea to James
Fassett & Co. of the city of Philadelphia inclosing a
check of $340, payable at the Branch of the Virginia
Bank in Petersburg, to the order of Zachariah Luney;
and on the 17th day of the same month, only eight day
after the letter was mailed here, some man who signed
his name J. Scott, presented the check at the bankj
in Petersburg and drew my money. That some post'
master or his deputy, has stolen this check from the
mail there can be no doubt; and it is possible that they
may have disposed of it to some one who drew the
money for them, he not knowing that it was stolen.
Should it be the case, and the man who drew the money
will make it known to me, with such evidence as will
lead to a conviction of the thief, I will pay him the
above reward.

dred acres of the best bottomland, and about two hun
dred cleared and in cultivation. This land is consider
ed, by all who know it, to be one among the most vain
able tracts in the country. I would rather that persons
wishing to buy, would view the premises and judge fol
themselves. It affords a pretty good situation f' r a
Store, &c. There is a comfo: table dwelling and good
out houses, with a little repairing Persons wishing tb
buy, would do well to apply early, as a great bargain
n.ay be had. I would take young negroes in part pay;
or part in cash, and give long credit for the balance;
or I will exchange it for Western lands, provided it Pes
where I like it. This lan.l would make a desirable
situation for persons living in the lower country to re
sort during the sickly season. The land may be seen
on application to Mr. Kinjbror.gh Jones at any time.
