There is very little doing in the Supe rior Conrt this week. Most of the fa.' ps for trial are small and unimpor tant. The case of Mrs. B. Davis Hgninst C. Summerfieid, in which the Iiaint iff is asking damages, on account of the wall to her building being dam Uped by the erecciou of a new building by the defendant, was called yesterday afternoon and has been on 'trial since then. The plaintiff asks for damages in the sum of $750. The case of Bow ers against the Western Union Tele graph company will follow this ca-e v.uless it is continued for the tenn. Paul Wheeler has a damage suit against .Thomas "II. MarJn, which is set for t ial tomorrow. In this suit Wheeler .risks for damages in the sum of ?4.30O. It is claimed that he 'bargained to' sell a certain piece of land on Morris street and that he was given time to tear lrwn and remove his machine shop. He had the building partially torn down when Martin decided not to take the property. It is contended by the de fendant that the property wa agreed in be delivered by a certain time and when this was not done that he re frted to take it. The suit of Rev. I.arkin Woods against the Southern road, brought on 'account of the Southern- canceling a contract to run a train jiT.u Durham to Chase City on Sun-d.-iy. has been continued for the term. Kev. J. C. Troy has gone to Greens boro and Jonesboro on a business trip. A new colored Baptist church has 'icen organized in Durham. The name 1? The bride was accompanied by her sis ;er,,Mrs. Ernest Teague. who was lira id if honor. The ceremony was impres sively performed by Rev. J. S. Wil liams of Henderson, a former pa tor f the church. The ushers were Messrs. O. Coble. A. 15. Kimball, Richard Wills and Ir. J. E. Brooks. After the 'marriage Rev. and Mrs. Johnson left for Alamance county to visit relatives and -friends of the groom. They will he at home in Pearson street after March 2Sth. ' Rev. Mr. Johnson has been pastor of I race church for several years and is very popular with the members of his 'H'gregation and the public generally. I If is a young minister of much force and earnestness. His bride is a. very accomplished young woman, a member of a well known and prominent family. One of the most enjoyable social affairs that has taken place in Greens boro recently was a banquet given by the gentlemen members of the faculty "f the State Normal and Industrial College last night in honor of Prof. J. Carr, a student at the Johns Hopkins University, who had been home on a visit. - Policemen Charles Clark and T. J. Mangum have purchased two full blooded 'English blood hounds. The hounds reached here a day or so ago bur have not been tried as vet. The dogs are .two years old and it is said that they come from good etock. It will be some time before they wi!l be ready to him: the dogs. Col. T. M. Argo of.Raleigh aud H. M. Shaw of .Oxford, two well known attorneys are here attending court. The former will appear in fome1 '-'ases to come up here this week and the other was here tovmake up a case on appeal. Mr. S. L; Adams has gone to Floriia in the interest of th Mountain Park Hotel. Hot Springs, which is owned by Mr. Howell Cobb of this city. Mr. Adams went from here to Hot Springs and will get a supply, of literature and go through the Stata of Florida. He will be gone several weeks. Rev. R. Gordon M-atheson has re turned fro'ni Roxboro where he went to assist in a series of meetings. Mr. C. W. Toms has returned from a business trip to New York. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Goodall have re turned to their home in Richmond after a visit to the father of Mrs., Goodall, Mr. B. L. Duke. Mr. W. F. " Chief of Police Scott tackled a tough proposition this morning when he ar rested a boisterous negro woman. She was very much averse to going to jail, and, after cursing and abusing the po lice force lay down on the ground and swore she wouldn't move an inch. She was a ' hefty" creature and Chief Scott did not relish the job, but. with the resignation of one who has served a uunilter of years as a police officer, he picked up the "white man's burden" and triumphantly bore it to a cell at tUe station. United jKtates Marshal Millikan has returned from Asheville, where he at tended the special term of District court. Mr. L; J. Brandt, secretary and treas urer ofthe Piedmont Cotton Company, has returned from a ' business trip to several mills. Mr. J. R. Donnell. who has charge of the Greensboro branch of the Ar mour Packing Company, left this morn ing on a business trip to St. Louis and Kansas City. Iuring the next-few weeks several important educational meetings will be held at different points in North Car olina. Th,e plan is to gather several county superintendents and leading ed ucators at a central point for a confer ence and public meeting. The first of these meetings will be held in Greens boro and among the speakers will be Governor Aycock, State Superintend ent of Public Instruction Joyner and other leaders. Ii is hoped that these meetings will do much toward arousing the public for the educational campaign that is to be waged this year. went to the house of 'William Langley. and raised a row with him about Lang ley's dog attempting to bite him the night before. Today the case of Will Ruffin who killed Bob Bullock three years ago will come up for trial. This case was tried, once before, but as the jury could not agree upon a verdict a mistrial was or dered, and so it will be tried today. Ruffin has a strong array of finest le gal talent, John E. Woodard, F. A. and S. A. Woodard and Col. John F. B ni ton, all of whom are giants in the legal arena. Randolph Superior Court Correspondence of The Morning Post. Asheboro, X. C, March IS. Superior Court is in session here this week, Judge Thomas J. Shaw presid ing, with Wm. C Hammer prosecuting for the State. Judge Shaw's charge to the grand jury was an able one and is said to be one of , the best for many years. The criminal docket will proba bly be finished tomorrow. The solicitor is making it hot for the 'blind tiger' men. The visiting attorneys are Cob J. T. Morehead, Geo. S. Itradshaw of Greensboro, Hon. B. F. Long, States ville; Messrs. Waltser and Raper, Lex ington; Hon. J. R. Blair, Troy.
