One lot of hi tobacco told yesterday for $22 per hundred. But today ia to be the red-letter open- ins day. A large number of wagons loaded with tobacco Tolled into the city last night. They ctme from the coun ties of Johnston. Chatham, Franklin, a few from Granville, and many from all the tobacco-growing sections of Wake. Many others are trareling in the direc tion of the capital city and a busy, hust ling and lively scene will be presented at the warehouses today when the sales open- Immense Tiles of tobacco will cover the floor space and crowds of buy ers and sellers will mingle together in the busy scenes and excitement of a big tobaeo-break. Italelzh is a tobacco market already It has not waited for the. regular and formal opening, but has been selling tobacco eTer since Jury 15th, and fifty thousand pounds or more has already been marketed here and every patron of the market haa been satisfied with the prices paid. It Is confidently believed that this mar ket will be taking, fifty-thousand-pound strides towards the first million-pound mark now in a few days, and then go riffht on reacoinz out for other millions.
