Applewhite, who passed away at this place on July 17th lsi. The untimely demise of this good man was a personal bereavement to all who claimed hlra as a friend. fFew young men enjoyed such a wide popularity. His friends ,were legion. They came from all tfS walks of life and he waa worthy of them. No one was too humbl for his friendship, and when the sad news reached his home no people were more sadly stricken with grief. Ills death was nothing short of a calamity to his employers here, who held his worth try highest esteem. Cut down Just in the flush of young manhood when every promise of a life f future usefulness was being realized. IIow sad to his parents after all these years of anxiety, of toll and pains, to ee the pride of their hearts and home pass out Into the "great - unknown" without a moment's warning. In ap pearance he showed the fine physique of handsome manhood. In all of his relationship with his fellow man he never harmed a single Individual, in tentionally. His character was rugged and unbending. He was honest In ev erything. In his life we find many traits to admire. He wns to have been .rr.crried but a few days before . Ms sickness began. How sad and myste rious that one so useful and beloved should be taken from us. But such !s decreed of kind rrovldenee mho we are told "wllleth all things best for the faithful and, trce."
