Weather Conditions The storm yesterday central over Oklahoma has moved eastward to east ern Tennessee and, western North Caro lina, where the barometer is below 29.70 inches at Asheville. Light rain has fallen throughout all the southern ttates east of the Mississippi river, and snow at northern stations. It is snow ing at Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, -Pittsburg-, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. As the .storm will probably pass north of North Carolina today carrying some warm weather With it. snow is not in dicated for this vicinity. James Stewart of New Hill and Annie Matthews of Apex and Eddie Womack of Goldsboro and Lena Banks of McCullers. Tonight at the A. and'M. College th? monthly religious service will held in the Pullen Hall, conducted by Rev. M. W. Butler of the Hillsboro Street Christian. Church. Mr. D. H. McLean of Burlington was here on his way home from Lillington. He says the farmers in Harnett are holding their cotton and are very blue over the valuation. Two colored couples secured marriage licenses yesterday. They were James Stewart of New Hill and Annie Mat thews of Apex; Eddie Womack of Goldsboro and Lena Banks of McCul lers. ' James E. Francis and wife conveyei to E. W. Hightpwer by deed yesterday for $10 and other valuable considera tions a lot 50x140 feet on Smith street extended, in the former Watson land. The out-of-town Christmas shoppers were in evidence yesterday. Many, people , were here from Lilling ton, Holly Springs, Apex, Cary and other nearby places and they carried home mysterious looking bundles of all sizes and descriptions. In deed the holiday trade has begun. Rev. J. C. Massee, pastor of the Ral eigh Baptist Tabernacle, arrived from Elizabeth City last afternoon and will "occupy his pulpit today. Mr. Massee is delighted with the decision of the con vention to meet next ' yeir with the Baptist Tabernacle here and he believes that it will be one of the, greatest re ligious gatherings seen in North Caro lina. Mr. Percy Cooke of Gastonia was in Raleigh Saturday. Mr. W. J. Edwards of Sanford was In the city yesterday. Mr. E. D. Steele of High Point was in Raleigh yesterday. Mr. S. V. Emiston of Mooresville is registered at the Yarborough. Attorney General R. D. Gilmer went to Greensboro yesterday on legal busi ness. Mr. George McNider returned to Chapel Hill after visiting his brother, Dr. Wm. McNider. Rev. C. W. Blanchard arrived yester day from Elizabeth City, where he at tended the Baptist convention. ' Barbecue and chicken salad will be Berved throughout the Bazaar in Cityi Hall, which is to be opened next Tues day night with a concert under the di rection of Professor Wade R. Brown.
