One explana tion of the opening depression in Liv erpool, however, that prices there were subject to pressure from this side in order to facilitate purchases in New ork,- presumably for short account. However this may be, there was a rally later on in Liverpool and for a-time New York prices also advanced. This was the result not only of a certain amount ' of bulllish support, but also of larger miscellaneous buying through private wire houses which collected not a little to. make the total transactions for the day at the cotton exchange tho largest for some weeks. Moreover, the leading Wall street bear was ceridted lightly or wrongly with covering a bulls in the:dlk-g ., 6.. .6. .6 ..6. .6. .6 considerable amount' of shorts.
