The balance will come to-day. Letter carriers will make only tbe inomiug deliveries from the post office to-day. Work is progressing quite rapidly on the completion of the west wing of the Penitentiary. All the visiting police are invited to meet at police headquarters on the fair grounds to-day at 12 o'clock, sharp. The banks and most of the leading business houses will close to day, and everybody will go to the fair grounds. The fair is one colossal success. Mr. Patrick and Mr. Wilson, the Chronicle tips its hat to you on your splendid achievement. CLUING AND GOING. SBiiic 1 the Folks You Kno? find Their Doinss. IS The fair marshals are requested to meet at the Yarboro House this morning at 9 o'clock. This is the request of the chief marshal. Everybody ought to see and cirefully note the exhibit of W. H. & R. S. Tuck fir & Co.. in floral hall at the fair. It is something superb. We want to hold a great Exposition.in Raleigh in 1891. If the new depot is built, it cm be done better. Are we to have a new depot, any way. Just keep in mind the fact that the Farce and Pantomines will be given at Metropolitan hall to-night, and it will bo something witty and nice. North Carolina can and does manu facture as elegant woolen and cotton goods as are made in the world. The display at the fair grounds proves this fact. Tho county candidates are taking a day or two "off." They will resume the canvass at Apex on Friday the 17th, and they do say they will make the fur fly from then on. Tho people the people the people. They are here and they are happy. Their crops are better than ever and they are as happy a gathering as was ever seen in Raleigh. The exhibits for the fair were so nu merous, that some of them were not put up until yesterday afternoon, lhere is a notable increase in the agricultural de partment over Tuesday. Tho CimoNicLE and the people are anxious to hear from the chairman of the committee on building a Union depot in Raleigh, and the readers of this pj.per are anxious to know when he will submit his report. The Chronicle notes an exhibit from the Piedmont Wagon company, Hickory, N. C, at the Fair. Mr. J. McD. Mich al, who has charge of it tells us they had no time to make preparations. They turned out six hundred wagons last month, and are badly pushed to fill or ders. See their delivery wagon which is as neat as any northern or western job. The concert for the benefit of the Con federate fcJoldiers' Home was largely at tended, and reflected great credit upon Miss Mattie Rountree, editor of tho Orphans' Friend, is visiting the fair. Mrs. J. B. Shipp, formerly of this city, now of Richmond, is here visiting friends. Miss Kate Capeheart, of Kittrells, is visiting Miss Lucy Young on New Berne avenue.
