About this season of the year Raleigh seems to aSord a grand exposition of all the products of art and industry, and it doesn't cost anything to see it. A Big Show at Woolcott's. Yesterday a Chronicle man while .-trolling about looked in at the mam moth establishment of Woolcott and Son. That house loots as tnougn oia Santa Claus had been at work there ail the year. There was never such a great and attractive display of pretty things fnr the little DeoDle. and on nextUnrist- mas morning all the good lit tle boys and girls in Raleigh will get some of those pretty things. The big house i3 fuli of trv-m from cellar to garrett, and any kind of a novelty that can be imagined can be found there. There are tea sets for little girls, rang ing in prices from five cents to five dol lars, and there are hobby horses and horns and guns for the boys at every price, and there are enough of them to give every boy and girl in the county one each. Besides there are the prettiest dolls, doll houses, doll piano3, pretty vases and in fact everything that little folks dream xof when they dream of Christmas and Santa Claus. Messrs. Woollcott are going to make a large house for Santa Ciaus soon, ana tncy are going to make it very baautif ul with all sorts of pretty decorations. Stronach's New Hakery and Grocery. Ever since Messrs W. C. & A. B. Slronach opened their new bakery there has been an immense rush upon them for their splendid bread. Customers i ave crowded the immense bakery on llargett street and their main grocery palace on Fayetteville street. The Messrs Stronach have put on several additional delivery wagons and yet they have some mighty hustling to do to fill orders as fast a3 they come in. People going to the two-story brick bakery on Hargett street fell into the habit of leaving orders there for a thousand and one other things, and as a matter of convenience and accommodation, the Messrs Stronach have taken the front part of the lower floor for a branch grocery and have rilled it up with a stock of the finest groceries that can be had. Mr. Terrell is in charge of the branch house, and yesterday the Chron icle man saw him scratching his head in perplexity as to how he would manage to dispose of the many orders that were coming in. The establishment is very neat and inviting and lady housekeep ers will find it an interesting place. the appearance cf the bank statement which proved to be a pleasant surprise, shewing as it did an increase in the re serves of 1,711,195. there was a steadier feeling and some covering. She made as much or more out of her chrysanthemum show for the Soldiers' Home as Raleigh made for the Hospital. Now the Chronicle would just like to know how the Raleighites feel about this? The Chronicle was shown yesterday by the State librarian a handsome en graving of a Confederate monument erected on the battle field of Manassas, to commemorate the heroic deeds of North Carolina soldiers at the first and second battles of Manassas. He intends having it framed for the library. Tho Chronicle hates to record the fact, but there are blessedly few young men in Raleigh who deserve any credit for such success as the chrysanthemum show had.
