In the Senate today a memorial Bigned by seventy-seven members of the Kan Bas legislature against the right of Martin to hold a seat as Senator from that State, asserting that Ady was legally and fairly elected, was presented by Mr. Sherman, and re ferred to the committee on privil eges and elections. The resolution reported yesterday from that com mittee for investigation of the ques tion came up again todav. and at the suggestion of Mr. Harris, was laid over till tomorrow. Richmond, Ya., April 13. The con vention of Southern governors was called to order this morning by President Fishback. The committee on permanent or ganization reported through Gov ernor McKinney, recommending hat the temporary ofiiaers be made permanent, and that upon all ques tions before the convention each Statd shall be entitled to one vote, to be cast by the Governor, and if not present, by one of the delegates from the State selected by representatives. The Governor of North Carolina offered the following resolution. which under the rules was re ferred: First, in order that work now and here begun may be facilitated it,-is recommended that the governors of these States appoint several per sons, jone to investigate carefully each of the followiug subjects in its relations to immigration to that State, direct trade, labor and em ployment, mining, climatory and health, advertising and manufactur ing; and these persons, under the direction of the Governor of that State, shall co-operate with him in Buch immigration work as he may direct. Terrell of Texas Goes to Turkey. By Southern Associated Press. Washington, April 13. The President has sent to following nominations to the Senate: Alex W.
