stated that Mrs. H. M. Fairbrother
had determined to enter suit against
Louis De LaCroix o( Oxford.
I The Durham Herald said yester
day: Mrs. M. H. Fairbrother, editor
of the Hillsboro, Recorder, which
suspended publication some time
ago, has filedpaperssuing Louis De
LaCroix, of Granville county, for
$5,000 damages. The suit will be
brought through the law firm of
Messrs. Guthrie & Guthrie, of this
city.
Mrs. Fairbrother was editing the
Hillsboro Recorder, an advocate of
the silver cause, and while absenH
from the office one day, Mr. De La
Croix, who is a strong gold man,
sent some gold literature which was
printed "Supplement of Hillsboro
Recorder," and the mailing clerk,
thinking that Mrs. Fairbrother had
sent the bundle there, sent out sev
eral hundred of the circlars. The
publication of the Recorder was
stopped a short time afterwards,
the editor clainiingthatthe circulars
had ruined the reputation and stand
ing of the paper.
