He brought two convicts to the penitentiary. Mr H S Joyner, who since the establisment of Democratic bead quarters here has held the position of stenographer to Chairman Manly with credit, and ability left this morning for Brooklyn, where he accepts a responsible position as stenographer. Mr Joyner is clever and bright young man and we are glad to note his promotion. Capt. Mason Last Night at Durham. Capt. Thomas W. Mason spoke in Durham at Parrish's warehouse last night to a large audience of ladies and gentlemen. The Herald says: The speaker was introduced by Dr J. M. Manning, president of the young men's democratic club, in a few well chosen words. Capt. Ma son delivered a powerful speech for the cause of silver. He was ap plauded throughout the entire speech.
