.Tristful. Dear, it is hard to stand tk near thy life, yet bo apart, 80 near I think so near I bine heart; 80 near that I could touch thine hand, And yet so far I dare not take That hand in mine for lore's dsar sake ! So near that I can look my fill At stated times upon thy face; 80 far that I must yield a place To others, sore against my will I 80 near that I can see thee smile; So far my poor heart aches the while! Dear, it is hard to know Whate'er the stress, the storm, the strife, The fret, the sadness of thy life, 1 have no power, no right to show Love in my hearr, love on my lips, To comfort thee in life's eclipBe. No right to claim before the ret-t The privilege to weep with thee; No right, across life's stormy sea, To bid the welcome to my breast ; No right to share thy hopes, thy fears, Through all the weary, weary years. Dear, it is hard to feel That bliss may meet the full and fair. Wherein poor I can have no share ; That thy wide future may reveal The joys of harvest manifold, While I stand lonely in the cold. Dear, it is hard, but God d' th know How leal the heart that beats for thee, il la enough, enougn tor me To love thee. Let the future show Love can live on for its own sake. Though eyes may weep, though heart may acne. Boston True Flag. A Turtle's Toilet. 'Never until this year have I been glad to see the schools begin,1' said a prominent citizen. A day or two ago the pond was drain ed, and a number of boys in the vi cinity went in with gigs and nets to catch the fish; but imagine their sur prise when they found a large snap ping turtle wearing the cuffs in the most approved college style. In con sideration for his intelligence the snapper was allowed to pursue his course in civilization, and as soon as the school convenes a cane and spec- fanlaa mill Ka dpnnnaH fni Ti I a ViOnfifr 11 "Oh-h-h ''- Minneapolis Tribune.
