A Cure for Consumption Found
at Last.
The medical fraternity of New York
are very much excited it seems over
the wonderful Lymph treatment of
tuberculosis and kindred diseases.
Dr. J. H. Linsley in an address at
the Post Graduate Medical School
and hospital said it was possible that
Dr. Koch had made a most wonder
ful discovery. There was no doubt
that the Lymph was most efflcacic us
in many cases. He believed it would
cure tuberculosis in its incipiency and
regarded it as a marvelous cure tor
Lupns.
Dr. Lomis injects the remedy into
nine patients at Bellevue Hospital in
the presence of a large number of
physicians. All the patients are re
ported as Joipg well.
Several of the prominent Drs. of
New York and other parts of the
"country" have visited Dr. Koch in
Berlin and have returned to experi
ment with the Lymph remedy in this
country.

SLEEPS IN BIS COFFIN.
An Eccentric Character Who
ltettres to Rest In tTCasket. 1
Alliance. Ohio, Dee. 13 Barney
Fri-kle is a well known character Jn
the vicinity of ibis city, one of whose
eccentricities is to sleep every night
in a coffin of his own manufacture,
and which he made nearly twenty
years ago, ou a recovery from a severe
illne-s, in oi ler that it might be ready
for his death. It is probable that his
miud was unhinged by his illness, for
it is said by those who know him best
that h prepares himself solemnly for
his death, and robes himself in a
shroud every night on retiring. He
is, however, very sensitive on the sub
ject of this mania, and has been
known to fly into a dangerous passion
when teased about it, although us
ually very quiet and good natured.
The coffin is made of oak, and put
together with considerable skill,
Fricke having been a carpenter by
trade though living a life of perfect
idleness now on a small income in
herited from his father, who was an
inventor of some note during the early
part of the century. The coffin is
ornamented with much carving, rep
resenting Bible scenes and allegorical
subjects, which are said by the very
few who have been permitted to see
it to show considerable artistic talent.
Frii;ke is in his seventy fifth year,
and has a very pleasant, dignified
manner, and when he can be pervad
ed to talk does eo very sensibly on
any topic except when that of death
is broached, when he becomes excited,
and even violent when contradicted
or argued with. He is a widower with
out chiJdrfn, having lost his wife
when he was twenty-two years old
and after o.ily a week of married life.
Wasn't Missed.
A citizen who stands pretty well in
his own estimation, and, for that
matter, in the estimation of the pub
lic also, went abroad for a period of
two years. When he returned to De
troit the first man he met was an old
friend, wh was about to pass him
with a cool bow.
"that's the matter?" asked the
returned traveler "Ain't you going
to Bpeak to a fellow after such an ab
sence ?"
"Absence ? Been out of town ?"
"Out of town! Wfiy. man alive.
I've been two years in Europe."
"No? Can't be possible. Why I
never missed you," said his friend.
The other turned away in anger
and buttou-holed an old chum, to
whom he said :
" Well, I've got back."
" Been oer to New York ?" asked
his chum.
" Thunder, man ! I've been to the
Old World !" exclaimed the disgrunt
led voyager.
" You don't say so ?" was the amazed
retort of the solemn looking chum.
The next acquaintance remarked
as he stopped a moment : ' I haven't
saen you for a week or two. Had hay
fever?"
That broke the combination. The
returned traveler got on his dignity
and declined to notice any more of
bis townmen till they sent a brass
band around to serenade him, and he
learned that it was'a put up job to
take him down a little. It is so hard
to persuade the average mortal that
he never will be missed. Detroit Free
