HEWS NOTES ABOUT THE CITY.
What Our Reporters See and
Hear Worth ttiTinjr to Our
Readers News in Brief.
The new lights on the street are an
improvement, but too far a part yet.
See notice of dissolution co-partnership
of the firm of Sumner & Watts
The Oovenor is beginning to look
"at home like'' already at the man
eion.
A. Dughi's steam peanut roaster
over the way is attracting attention
It is rather an unique little machine
and does it's own turning.
All lovers of minstrelsy should at
tend Metropolitan Hall tonight.
There has never an entertainment of
the kind visiting Raleigh more deserv
ing. Let the Hall be crowded.
Don't forget the streets. They are
very good now since the wind and
sun have chased the mud away, but
it will appear again soon. City Fath
crs, it is the wish of the people that
something be done to improve the
streets; will you try ?
The State Librarian is dt-sirous of

of a harmonious session of thy peo

Usually the members of the Legisla

Now bright sunshine and invigora

thing looks lively, and we doubt not
it is a good omen iu all ways.
How about that new hotel ? A hotel
for the entertainment of northern
people during the winter. Northern

with the city, the people and all that
but dont find 6Uch.hotel accommoda.

body supply the need ?
The Visitor is on the up grui.v
Subscribers are coming in,1 and adv.r
tisers are finding out where to adver
tise. Favoritism nor fawniug wi;
hold against interest. Tickling an
twittting may work for a while, but
solid work and bonefied appeals to
interest will ' get there." It is to the
i iterest of business men to advertise
in the Visitor, because it goes to
more homes in Raleigh than any
other medium.
The Great Georgia Minstrels drew
a very large house at Hide's las night,
The down stairs was well filled, and
the first and second galleries v. ere
packed. The pe formance was a very
satisfactory one, and the applausand
laughter were almost incessant. The
jobes were fresh, the singing good
and the dancing firstclass. Altogether
it was one of the best minstrel shows
given this 6easou. Little Rock

We.
The faults of our neighbors with free

But tax not ourselves though we prac

We could say something peasant
to every one if we did not set our

our eyes blinded to the best in human
nature and laok only for the worst,
The most lovable woman in the world
is the one who always finds something
to admire in her associates and never
hesitates to speak of it to others, and
in a quiet way suggests her admira

more refined than blunt honesty.

"The Tale ov the Dkad" as it is
related by Aiden Benedict in his
"Fabio Romani," is a very interesting
story. The interest is much strength'
ened by the dran.atic production of
the piece. To witness this play the
theatre was crowded last nisrht. The
company is a strong one, and fully
capable to give a thoroughly good
representation of the play. The
double role of Fabio Romani and
Conte Csare Oliva was assumed by
Mr. Walter Lawrence. Nina,the weak,
faithless woman, was very naturally
portrayed by Miss Frances Field.

The goods included in this sale we

we take our Annual Inventory, and
we had rather have these goods sold
