F. To the officers and members of Manteo Lodge, No. 8. Bbkthrbn: You are most ear nestly urged to attend the regular meeting of your lodge on tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 8 o'clock. This will be the last meeting of the lodge before the convening of the Grand Lodge at Oxford. There are some matters of the most vital importance to our order that should be discussed on tomonow night. It is most earn estly desired that you will not allow anything to debar you from attend ing this meeting. The conferring of the initiatory and ether degrees, we frankly admit, is verv beautiful and in every way attractive and should be witnessed at all times by every member, but, brethren, this is of minor importance compared to many of the business transactions of our lodge. We will state that the degree staff will confer tbe lirst degree of Odd Fellowship on tomorrow night and it is hoped that all who are eligible to this degree will present themselves promptly at 8:15 to receive the same. O, to Gibson station where it will have railroad connec tions to Charlotte and Wilmington over Carolina Central. Hon. R. B. Vance, of Asheville, will deliver the literary address and Rev. W. W. Bays, of Georgia, will preach the annual sermon at the commence ment of Greensboro Female College the last week in May. Low Rates. We are pleased to note that Mrs. J. A. Jones who has been quite ill, is fast recuperating. Mr. Dudley Peed is in the city look ing as well, and almost as young as he did thirty years ago. Adjutant General Glenn was in the city last Saturday arranging for the encampment of the State Guard this summer. Mr. Wade Hampton, one of Ral eigh's young compositors, has gone to Asheville to take a position on the Citizen. Mr. John T. Britt, editor of the Oxford Public Ledger, was taking in the city last Saturday afternoon. Hon. John Manning of the Univer sity, was in the city last Saturday af ternoon.
