Much interest centers in the case of the board of canvassers of Cafe Fear township, New Hanover county, which it is probable will come up iu the circuit court during the present week. They were indicted upon a charge of failing to properly receive and count the votes of that township in the election of November, 1890. The defendants are now in the city. H. Boone, the Financial Agent of the above institution, which is to be established in Raleigh is now at work soliciting and collecting in our city. The Richmond & Danville Railroad will operate the following special trains between Durham and Chapel Hill on June 3rd and 4th Leave Durham, 9 40 a. m ; leave University, lf:10, a. m ; arrive at Chapel Hill 10:50, a.m.; returning, leave Chapel Hill 6:00, p. m ; Univer sity, 6:56, p. in.;. arrive Durham 7:16, p. m. Returning it will ena ble parties to reach Greensboro and points beyond and Kaleigh the same night. Pic-nic. The pic nic at Auburn yesterday by the Central M. E. Sunday School was one full of enjoyment and from first to last a success. The children were carried away. The.train left the Union Depot about 5:50 carrying over 200 young and old, large and small. In a very short while we were at Auburn and the grounds, where we found everything in apple pie order. Johns, Etq., who deserve special men tion and have the thanks of the Sun day School not only for their efforts, but for their success in making us happy.
