; Only.Uoing ! Ike Oale.
Like a bell of blossom ringing.
Clear and ehildiah, ahrill and awcet,
Flouting to the porch's ahadow,
Willi the fa hi. r fall of 'eet,
Conies toe answer softly back want,
Kidding tender watcher wait,
Wbile the baby queen outruns her,
"Only goiug to the gate."
Through the moonlight, warm and sccutod
Love to beauty breaths a sigh,
Always to depart reluctant,
Loth to speak the words good by;
Then the same low echo answers,
Wailing love of older date,
A in I the maiden whispers softly,
"Only going to the gate."
Oh, these gates along our pathway,
What they bar outside and iu !
With the vague outlook beyond them,
Over Waves we have not been,
How they stand before, behind us !
Toll gates some, with price to pay;
Spring gates some, that shut forever;
Cloud gates some, that melt away.
So we pass them going upward
On our journey, one by one,
To the distant shining wicket
Where each traveler goes alone
Where the friends who journey with us
Strangely falter, stop and wait;
Father, mother, child or lover,
"Only going to the gate."

Kansas City, Sep. 1st The Star
says it transpired during the recent
State meeting of the Farmers' Alli
ance at Warrensburg, Mo., that there
was an organization within the Alli
ance which believes in force as a
measure to attain the objects of the
Alliance.
It was the knowledge of the exis
tence of this "force element" that de
feated the sub treasury resolution,
which waB championed especially by
it. Those delegates who favored the
sub treasury resolution, continues
the Star, voted against it simply be
cause they desired to defeat the force
party. The force party had forty
eight delegates in the convention.
One of them told a report er about the
organization, and said, excitedly: ' If
the minority will not do what the
majority wills, it is high time for the
majority to hang the minority. It
ballots wonlt do the business bu'lets
will, and there are lots of us pledger!
to go that far."
Ex President Hall who asserts that
his life has been declared a forfeit in
the underground meetings of these
people, was and ifi keenly alive to its
existence. Before the meeting at Per
tie Springs he sent out a letter dated
Aug. 14th to every delegate he could
trust, telling them the facts and exs
horting them to be at the convention
ready to crush out the influence of
these socialists, as he called them, in
the Alliance. This letter was kept
profoundly secret and its existence
did not come to the surface until last
Saturday night, when everybody was
preparing to leave,
The secret order calls itself "The
Anti Monopolists." Very few, if any,
farmers belong to it. Its strength
liesmainly in the cities and the farm
ere are its cat's paws. Wilmington
