There is one thioir that all the northern editors who recently visited our city agree upon, and that Is, that the people of Raleigh are the kindest and most hospitable they ever met with. And yet here are some folks in North Carolina so lost to patriot ism and trut h as to attempt, in their puny way, to slander us. Shame up on them. The Concord Standard says: Poor old Raleigh is deserted. The exposi tion is over. The next attraction she will have will probably be the gram mar school of Bill Miller, the gram marian. At the residence of his parents 112 Fayetteville street, in this city, this morning at 6:45 o'clock of heart disease Robert B., son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Watson, in the 7th year of his age The death of this little boy is one of peculiar sadness. Although the disease with which he w is afflicted was of such a character as almost to forbid hope, the intelligence and beautiful simplicity of the child at taohed him to the hearts of those with whom he came in contact, and, it is not to be wondered at that the little sufferers' recovery- was made the subject of earnest appeals to the Ruler of the Universe that he might be preserved for future usefulness. But it was to be oth r .vise and there is nothing left but for the stricken household to submit in meekness to the will of God. Let them remember the words of the great prophet of old, when a similar affliction befell him. From the profound depths of his soul, he said, 'It is well with the child." And so it is, but, we are human and it is hard for us to think so As an illustration of the precocity of little Robert, it may be mentioned that when informed he was to die, he said with complete compos ire, -'It is better for me, if I must die, than to suffer as I do " To the"1!Uo'ed parents we offer our mo1 heartfelt sympathy, in their ad-hour of affliction. Let them look to him who wdl doubtless ' temper the wind to the shorn lamb" for that oon solatiou whioh earth cannot afford. "It is well with the child " City papeis please copy. A High Compliment. A special to the State Chronic'e pays the following high compliment to Pev. W. C. Norman: He was recently transferred from the Western North Carolina to this Conference.
