Accidents.
This afternoon between 2 and 3
o'clock, a street car on Fayetteville
street, when on its downward trip at
the corner of Fayetteville and Har
gett streets, struck an open wood
wagon drown by one horse, driven by
Mr. H. G. Morris an aged gentleman
residing near Cary. The horse started
off and Mr. Morris was thrown to the
ground sustaining contusions on the
leg and face and brusing his breast
some. The injuries are not serious,
but it was a narrow escape.
We deeply regret to state that Mr.
P. C. Hardie has received a dispatch
announcing that his son, Mr. Albert
Haidie had met with a serious ac
cident in Memphis Tenn., where he
was engaged on a street railway. It
appears that he fell tfom a construe
tion wagen. a distance of fifteen feet,
fracturing his skull. It is feared the
result will be fatal. Mr. and Mrs.
Hardie have the deepest sympathy of
our entire community in their sad
affliction.
The Pay Train.
The above beautiful comedy drama
will be produced at the Metropolitan
Hall on Wednesday December 23rd,
and we have no hesitancy in saying
that a rare treat is in stc re for our
theatre goers. The company is a
most excellent one headed by the
charming soubrette Miss Florence
Bindley, who is supported by a cast
of rare excellence. The scenic effects
are marvelous and must be seen to be
appreciated; several of the most
prominent ones are, the interior of a
Coal Mine in full Operation; The
Realistic Boiler Explosion and Wreck
of the Incline Plane Truck, which
dashes to the stage from the dome
filling the stage with smoke and
debris as natural as the real thing it
self; the most phenomenal of all is
the Railroad Effect, a full train of
cars dashes across the stage at full
speed, and is uncoupled in full view
of the audience ; the Pay Car is im
mediately lighted up, showing the
action in the car ; the company car
ries a full Electric Dynamo for this
purpose. This drama is conceded by
press and public to be the most re
alistic of all mechanical dramas.
