A Better Laud. K. L. B. Quid oar feet aright, dear Father, Hold oa ever in Thy hand, For we need Thy lmng kindness To help us gain the better land. If we falter by the wayside; If oar feet turn from the right, Lead as back, my Heavenly Father, To Thy kind and loving sight. Many are the great temptations In this world as we pass through, If we do not ehun and fear them They will lead us far from you. We are weak and faint from waiting Weak, and oh how weary, too, Bat the time is coming, Father, When we soon will be with you. Then I'll meet my little darling In that better world above, ; Where there never is no parting, Where there's nothing there but love. Oh, how glad will be the meeting When we take each other's hand, For I am sure I'll know my baby In that bright and better land. 1 Raleigh, N. C, Jan. 25, 1892. UNLUCKY WITH HER HU SB ANDB Oxford, N. Y., Jan. 88. Fire de Played an abandoned house and barn on a farm in the town of Hamil ton a few nights ago, and thus ret moved what was familiarly known as "The Widow's Discourager" as land marks in that part of the county. The property originally belonged to. Anson Brooks, a young farmer. Six or seven years ago he married Eliza B at well. They lived apparently hap py for two years, when one day Mrs Brooks found her husband hangins dead from one of the beams in the barn. She fell heir to the farm, and in course of time married George Peckham, another young farmer of that locality. The couple lived hap pily and contentedly together, so far as people knew, and consequently there was much surprise when it was learned that Mrs. Peckham had fo und her second husband hanging dead from the same beam in the barn from which the first husband had, for some unexplained reason, suspended himself. In- proper time the widow took a third husband, in the ptrson of Napoleon Smith, a young sporting man. The Smiths lived joyously, bo peop'e Said, for two years, when the third husband disappeared. He sim ply left word that he was going away, and be has never been heard from eiuce. Then the widow Smith, de claring that she was discouraged, sold the farm and moved away, where, it is slid, she was divorced, and is now a bride for the fourth time. A FOURTEEN YEAR OLD BOY'S SUICIDE. St. Augusuihb, Fla , Jan. 24. Her man Carter, of Bay Point, Long Is land, N. Y., a boy about fourteen years old, committed suicide last night by shooting himself through the temple. Hi body was found this morning in a palmetto thicket, a long distance from his father's winter cottage. A revolver with one barrel discharged lay close to his head. He was of a morbid disposition and given to reading tales of crime and violence. Buy hay, corn and meal from C. O.
