Thomason, Drum Major. There are yet many persons who have not paid taxes. They should hurry up as Sheriff Page will soon be compelled to publish the list of delin quents. Oakwood Cemetery, in a month or so will be one of the most beautiful in the country. It is nicely kept, in all particulars. If the idea of build ing a chapel should be carried out, it would add much to the convenience of the place. It is expected, that the Board of Aldermen, at their meeting, tomor row night, will take proper action re lative to the movement concerning a eabsoription for a suitable present to the cruiser "Raleigh." Our people look for it. We are delighted to see our friend Mr Samuel Wilder, formerly of Bal eigh, but now a resident of Alabama, in the city. He is in the enjoyment of most excellent health. We are glad to bear there is some prospect that he will again become a citizen of ear city. . Let .every citizen of Raleigh, who ean potslbly do so, attend the meet ing of citizens, called by Mayor Badger to take place at the Mayor's office tonight. It is an important as semblage, and one that should, by no jmeans, be overlooked. Funeral. ! Tho fimprnl services of the late Mrs. Henry H. Staunton, who re cently died at Roanoke, Va., took place from the Baptist Tabernacle, in thiscity, this morning at 10 o'clock Rev. Dr. Hall, pastor of the church o fficiating. The late hour at which the funeral exercises of ex Governor Holden took place.yeisterday afternoon, prevented us from giving anything more than a very short notice and this had to be anticipated. The services were con ducted by Rev. Mr. Cole, pastor of Edentou street church, assisted by the presiding elder, Rev. Mr. Cun inggim and Rev.
