The liabilities are about $6,000, and are as follows: Raleigh Savings Bank, note for $9, 001; Commercial Savings Bank of Farmvil9, Va., $1,000; G. D. Rand Richmond, Va., $1,6(10; E. B Barbee. $1,000. An Interesting Case It is learned at Winston that a compromise had been effected in an interesting case which had been "hanging fire" in the courts of Stokes county for two or three years. The parties interested are Mr. Thomao R. Pepper and Miss Emma Smith of that city. The following deaths occurred else where, for which burial permits were issued: Wake County 1 white male, 2 white females, 2 colored males; total 5. Deaths of children under five years of age as follows: White males, 1; white females, 2; total, 3. The interments were as follows: Ooakwood Cemetery, 5; City Cem etery, 4; Mt. Hope Cemetery (colored), 9; elsewhere, 4; total 22. The following are persons seventy years old and over, who died during the month: Wm. W. Holden, white, 73; Emiline Moss, white, 70; Mary Newell, colored, 7'; Tessie Hinton. colored, 80; Ellener Thompson, color ed, 84 Deaths attended by physicians, 14; not attended by physicians, 1; total t5. Of tbe deaths in the city limits, six were married, three widow, and six children. There were two still-Virths. The births in the city, as reported, were as follows: White males 2, white females 12; total 14. Colored males 2, colored females 4; total 6. The proportion of deaths to popu lation were as follows: whites, one in 1,8'dS; colored, one in 77; total, one in 1,00 . Ratio per thousand whites 75, col ored 1 28; total 1.
