He was watk Ing along the platform at the N. C. Railroad depot, when one of his feet han or caught in a defective place causing hiui to fall heavily, by which he was cousiderably hurt in the side and chase, and his hand somewhat scratched We are glad, however, to say that no serious re- suits are anticipated. We hope that our mer chants, with their usual unanimity, will adopt the plan. It Is not ouly due to their subordinates in business, but they owe it to themselves not to make such a heavy run upop their mental and physical resources daring the Bummer months. We are much gratitied 'o learu that Prof. Holmes, our State Geo ogist, is now engaged iu making investiga tions of deposits in Wake county. This will be highly appiectuted by our peopie, because, for many years back, we have not received such at teutioo, in our opinion, as we deserv ed. Prcf. Holmes is now in the Roles ville section, where, it seems, he has exaadued specimens of shell rock said to ua ery valuable in the way of lime making There is said to be large quantities of the rock in that part of the county. Died. Our citizens, or most of them, re member Geo Busbyhead, a some what notorious Indian who often visited Raleigh. He was a preacher and was in attendance on the Baptist Convention at Atlanta. Last Friday he was found in a dyiug condition on a street in 'hat city and taken to the Providence infirmary where he died yesterday and his body had been prepared for burial and was held sub juct to the order of the convention. Rev. W. L. Brown, Dr. D. T. Mil lard and R. A. Centelle, of North Carolina, were appointed a commit tee to look after the burial of the de cease J minister. New and Attractive.
