The cotton factory stock continues to boom If any of the North Carolina dele gation to Chicago will leave the latter part of this week. The clans are al ready gathering. Mr. C. W. Lambeth, city clerk, has gone to Wilmington to attend the meeting of the Grand Lodge, Knights'of Pythias. Large additions are being made to the Commonwealth Cotton Factory in Durham. This looks like such in dustries are paying handsomely, and we are glad to note that another one is in contemplation for Raleigh. " The Greensboro Cycle club have accepted an invitation from Messrs Bpeuce & Stone of Raleigh, for a con test on the Guilford Battle Ground, July 4th We don't wiBhto prejudice the case, bat we are betting on our ' boys all the same. The Teachers Assembly meeting at Mo'rehead is close at band. It will commence June22d and will be a see sion of unusual Interest. During the first three days, Mr. Beard, the fa mous " Chalk 'artist and humorist," will be on hand, and many other at tractions are billed. The attendance will no doubt, be very large. A little colored boy, named Walter Hall, in attempting to build a fire with kerosene oil at the residence of his mother, Grace Hall, 210 West Le noir street, was q lite badly 'burned today at 12.48 o'clock. The fire alarm was sent out bat the flames were quickly extinguished. A very handsome catalogue hap been sent out from the Horner school of Oxford, for the session of 1881 92. The number of pupils enrolled for the past scholastic year, was 141, a gain of 41 over any previous year and the largest percentage of increase made by any school or college in the State Tha prospects for the next session are excellent. - r It cannot be otherwise than, that a large crovd of visitors to oar city adds much to the business .of oar merchants in every line of trade. This la acknowledged because it is the natural result . Such being the case, all oar people of whatever occupation should afford to ive according to their means to aid in a proper cele bratlon of the coming 4th of July. Meet the subscription committee in a cordial manner, and do all in your power to farther the matter in view. )ar attention has been called to he destitute circumstances of a family named Snipes', residing near the gas house. The son is in the last stages of consumption and the moth er is completely prostrated from long continued nrusing and want of proper s istenance. We mast think this elm pie ; announcement is ' sufficient to O en the purse strings of all charita. bly disposed persons. Let as not for get the quality that is the greatest of ' all charity. It begins at home, bat . Raleigh is oar home, in this sense ' The" Greeks are at our door," said Randolph on one .occasion and he1 , aa right, ' - I Peaches getting plentiful and riper The heated term s ill in full blast. The switch of the electrio railrav on Hillsboro street, has been re moved. The Agricultural and Mechanical college boys are leaving for their homes. The city is as free from sickness as at any time for yean past, at this sea son of the year. Moderate baths are healthy, but it is not good to stay in tht water too long during the heated term. Keep cool, but do not indulge in an over quantity of ice water. There is danger in it. We deeply regret to learn that Mrs. N. W. Price, mother of Mrs. M A Hardie of this city is seriously ill in Petersburg, Va. It is what Hood's Sarsaparilla ac tually does that tells the story of it merit and has given it the largest sale of any medicine. The "Financial News Letter," is the prospective title of a journal to be commenced in this city, July 4th, 1892, by Mr W. J Peele. Mr E A.
