Chamber ut Commerce. Last night there was a good atten dance at the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce. Much business look ing to active work was mapped out. Articles of incorporation were sub mitted and approved and a new code of laws was given consideration. A suggestion was made by Mr. J. M. Broughton that all citizens make an effort to put the sidewalks in good condition. Maj. Tucker offered a resolution commending Mr. J. T. Pat rick for the very handsomedisplay of North Carolina and other products he has exhibited in Buffilo, N T , at the exposition. The resolution was adopted. Sherwoods. The bright day brought the ladies out in numbers and the encomiums paid upon our selections are indeed gratifying. The variety of medium priced dress goods, wash fabrics and curtain draperies come in for special mention. There were fewer lookers than we expected. The new goods and reasonable prices was the attrac tion and nearly all became pur chasers. Our first day was one of great satisfaction and take it as an omen to a reasonable success.
