Carter, of the First Baptist church In this city, to the graduat ing class at Chapel Hill, last June has betn published. It is a splendid pro duction in every respect, abounding in the most beautiful and impressive thoughts. Now for Thanksgiving Day. Let us be thankful for all our blessings Jollification There will be a meeting of the Cleveland-Carr club at the court house tonight at 7 30 o'clock to make arrangements for a jollification in honor of the recent democratic victo ry. A full attendanae U desired. Frank Stbonach, Chairman. O. 8- LAMBETH, Secretary. Appropriation. The matter of an appropriation on the part of North Carolina to the World's Fair is attractiog attention. The following from the Raleigh cor respondence of the Wilmington Mes eenger is to the point: The next legislature will be called upon to do something the last one failed to do that is to make an a propriation for the North Carolina exhibit at the World's Fair. The legislature owes it to the honor of the state to do this. The last legis lature gave $25,000, but it was "other people's money," as Gov. Holt very properly decided. The next legisla ture should promptly appropriate at least the same sum. All the prepar atory work in the makiog of the grand collection has been done thanks to the board of agriculture, whose members most pluckily stepp ed into the breach and saw that the work should be prosecuted, and which lent the World's Fair Com mission enough money to push the work to the present advanced stage. The Wilmington Messenger says, great nocks of ducks were seen flying over the city yesterday going south Some of the weatherwise tel us that this presages cold weather. The lightning was also playing briskly yesterday evening and they tell ns that this is another sign of cold weather. 0 OTHER Sarsaparilla can pro duce from actual cures such won derful statements of relief to human suffering as HOOD'S Sarsaparilla LOCATION OF ALARM BOX.
