From a letter received In this city yesterday, we learn that Mr. O J Par ker, General Agent for the North western Mutual Insurance Company, came near meeting hi death in Ke nan8ville last weeR Mr. Parker, who is in that section of the state lo cating agencies for his company, was takeu by the notorious desperado, Banner Jordan, for a detective, who was trying to secure his arrest. Jor dan opened fire on Mr. Parker barely missing him six inches before he was overpowered and arrested by the proper officers.
