No damage was done as far as could be learned. , The Monroe Enquirer gets off this frog story: Mr Alec Crook was at his spring a few days ago and saw a large bull frog swallow a live chicken. Hoge and family, of Wilmington, are in the city, visiting President Holladay at the Agricul tural and Mechanical college. During the vacation it is in con templation to make some important improvements in the premises of the Deaf and Dumb Asylum in this city. The reception at the Agricultural and Mechanical College last night was a brilliant affair. There was a large number of persons in atten dance from the city, and many stran gers. Prof. Holladay assisted by "his wife and Mrs. P H Hoge, of Wil mington, did the honors of the oc casion. The reception lasted from 9 to 12, o'clock. Supper was served in the capacious dining room.
