The Teachers Assembly at More head, will soon come to a close. The usual number of.vlsltors to the city for Saturday were missed today. Miss Belvia Harrison, of Salisbury, is in the city visiting Miss Susie Mabry. The bath house at Patten park is being well patronized these warm evenings. Mr J H Bobbltt and wife and Dr W H Bobbltt returned from Morehead yesterday. The flag of the old Guilford Guard will be on exhibition at the Battle Ground on the 4th of July. The News and Observer and the State Chronicle made its appearance in a consolidated form today. Attention is directed to the adver tlsement of the Norris' Dry Goods Store. This train formerly No 117 will hereafter be known as No 127 the 'Atlanta Special" and will arrive at Raleigh, at 8 p m ., and leave at 8:15 p m. instead of 8:30 p m. as hereto fore. There will be no changes in schedule of other trains. James Freeman colored was up be fore H H Roberts J P., for wilfully falling to list his taxes for the year 1892. This is a warning to those who have failed to list as the law requires. See section 89 chapter 82ft laws of 1891. These are several hundred able bodied men In Wake county accord ing to the registration books that do not list or pay one cent of tax. TIip Weather. We are glad to be able to say that there will be no diminution in the force at the Raleigh and Gaston Rail road shops in this city, and, that per haps on the contrary the number of employes may be increased. This will be indeed good news, not only to the parties directly interested but to all our people. The removal of the shops from Raleigh, or even any con siderable decrease of the force, would work much disadvantage all around. Important Case. The ease of rd application for an injunction and receivers in the case of Big Falls Cotton Mills came up be fore Judge Winston at Oxford yester day. It was to have been tried be fore Judge Whitaker in Raleigh, but owing to the injuries of his son, the case was transferred to Judge Wins ton at Oxford. There are a large number of lawyers in attendance from various sections. Greensboro and Winston will cross bats on Jnly 8th.
