E. church, the reports show that $1,784 98 have been raised this conference year, beginning Dec. 1892. The above amount was raised from the members and friends in the church. We return them onr thanks. Bricks are being deliveredjat the church and we will resume work soon. The church when completed will add to the beauty of our city. At a meeting last Monday night, Jan. 26th, the pastor RHW Leak, Stew art Ellison and Seth Nowell were constituted a committee to solicit aid from oar white friends, and as we have not called on them in several years we hope they will not turn the committee away empty handed. Thb Pastor. Fetter's Southern Magazine, for J u ly, published at Louisville, Kentucky, Is on oar table and as usual contains some very fine reading matter. Any one wishing to subscribe for a good southern magazine would do well to end on and get Fetter's Sonthern Magazine, Louisville, Ky. At the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday evening, resolu tions were adopted calling on the President of the Uuited States to call an extra session of Congress. Appropriate remarks were made by S A Ashe, W J Peele and A A Thomp . ton. We have received the July number of the Cosmopolitan. It is a splen did number, beautifully illustrated and contains most excellent and in teresting articles. There is no bet ter magazine on the continent. Only 12 eents per month. A considerable party of our people expect to attend the Guilford Battle Ground celebration. They may be certain of a cordial welcome in the "City of Flowers " There are no more hospitable people on the continent.
