Nothing is more delightful these warm nights than a street car ride. Don't fail to look up your relics and send them to the antiquity society. We are glad to note that Nash square is being properly cleaned np. The bathing pools at the parks are the correct things thene warm even ings. All the machinery for the new Pearl cotton factory at Durham has ar rived. Send in your orders for space at the fair grounds if you want an eligible place. The capltol today looked like a de serted mansion house. No news stirring. The scarlet fever cases are still im proving. There are no additional caBPS reported. Judge Boyklnof the Superior Court was married to Miss Ada Rogers, at Concord at Wednesday. Mr N B Broughton will deliver an address on "Personal Work" in Dur ham on Friday night, August 18th. Cantaloupes are selling in Wilming ton at 30 cents a dozen. They have not began to reach that figure here. The seventh annual convention of the Durham county Sunday school association will be held at the court bouse in the town of Durham, com mencing on the night of Friday, Au gust 18th, closing with the afternoon jaession ou Saturday, the 19th. The two encampments of this city have perfected arrangements to give the Grand Encampment and visiting Patriarchs a collation at Brookside Park on next Thursday afternoon, which will be served by Mr Charles Brestcb. It is desired that every mem ber of the local encampments will participate in this entertainment. It is expected that the Grand En campment will install their officers in the Royal Purple Degree, on Thurs day afternoon at 2 o'clock, so as to admit to the installation ceremony every member of that degree in the city, and as soon as the installation is over all will take the street cars for Brookside Park for refreshments, and a good time may be expected.
