Alabama. "In "Alabama," which will be pre-1 sented at Metropolitan Hall next Wednesday evening, Sept 13th, Mr Augustus Thomas has told a simple story of the south. He has left the beaten path. The clash of arms, the ppgeant of war have bo place in his wcrk; they are here only as an cho; seen bat by reflection. He presents a study of southern life and character which is altogether charming. He 'has given the Btage a genuine novelty and a gem, free from even a trace of the sensational the north a vivid pic ture of that south which the north has rarely known, and the south an unvaroifched picture of itself, which will do for it what history is power less to do. The company that will Interpret "Alabama" has been select ed with greit care and is said to be pjrfect. The Centennial. We very briefly alluded in our issue of yesterday to a neatlv gotten up volume complied by Capt 0 B Den son. at the request of the board of managers of the Raleigh centennial celebration.
