A Niagara Falls dispatch says: A sensational story is told by Master Edwin Whitney, son of Mr and Mrs Solon Whitney, of that city. It was in effect that he saw at the house of his grandfather, Major Whitney, the body of a woman float past the rear of the house down through the rap. ids nd over the falls. The hoar was about 8:30 in the morning. Master Whitney said he saw the obj-ict on a cake of ioe, and that there could be no mistake about it being a woman She had on dark clothes, he thought, and part of h r faoe was visible as she lay on the ice. He called the attention of the two painters at work on the veranda on the river side of che Whitney mint sion, and they also thought it was a body. The painters a luded to are John O'Brien and Harry Gollyer. Both substantiated the boy's story. Mr O'Brien said: "Oar attention was called to the river by a flock of ducks flying over. Young Whitney and myself saw the object on the ice coming down the river and at first thought it was a log, As it came nearer we saw tnat it was a human being and when still oloser that it was a woman. Mr Collyer's attention was called to it, and he also thought it was a woman. - "The cake of ice with the body passed probably but fifty feet from the shore, down into the rapids. The body was of good size and appeared to be enveloped in a long, steel gray cloak which reached nearly to the feet. The woman was lying extended and there could be no mistake as to it being a voman." The three watchers followed the object as far as the rapids, where the le and Its harden were tossed about and went over the American fall It doubtless passed under the bridge, and may never be found.
