O'Brient, of Durham, is at I home of Mr. Pulaski Cowper, his daugh ter, .Miss Margaret l. Uowper, was mar ried to Mr. R. B. Hall. vBishop Joseph Blount Cheshire performed the ceremony. The groom was accompanied by his brother, Prof. Lyman Hall, of Atlanta. It was a quiet home wedding and only a few of tbc intimate friends and relatives of the couple witnessed the beautiful Forest, and impressive ceremony. .Miss .Margaret Uowper is well known here and has a host of friends and ad mirers. Mr. Hall is a prominent insur ance man of Atlanta, Georgia. He. and his associate have the management of two large companies in that city. Mr. and Mrs. Hall left yesterday after noon for a trip South, visiting bt. Augus tine and other points. They will make their home in Atlanta. Deputy sheriff, W. N. Smith, of Vance 'county, passed through the city yester day takingan insane voman to the hos pital at Goldsboro. Miss Alice Mullins, who has been visiting friends and relatives here, re turned to the State Normal School at Greensboro yesterday. Mr. J. II. Southgate, of Durham, the Vice Presidential candidate of the bolt ing faction of the Prohibition party last fall, is at the Yarboro. Mr. A. A. Chamberlaine, of Sand Beach, is the guest of his son, Mr. A. L. Cham berlaine. He is en route to Florida where he will spend the winter. Rev. J. W. Perry, of Tarboro, and Rev. Wm. Jackson, of Wilmington, are here attending the mission being conduc ted by Father Fields, of Boston. Rev. A. J. McKelway, of Fayetteville is in the city, the guest of Dr. Eugene Daniel. He conducted the service at the Prcsby- terian church last evening. Rev. A. L. Betts has returned to the M. Civil Court. The civil term of the Superior Court was in session again yesterday. Every case set for trial yesterday was continued except one, and that was Thos. G. Cheat ham and wife et al. vs. J. C. Marcom, administrator, and this resulted in a mistrial, the defendant being ordered to pay the costs of the case up to this term. Haviland China Dinner Sets at bottom prices. W. H. Hughes. Fire Alarms. About noon vesterdav an alarm was turned in from Hargett St. The compa nies responded quickly, but the fire was extinguished before they reached tne spot. Only a few shingles were burned on the house occupied by Mrs. Jane Ruth, 315 Hargett Street. The damage amounted to less than two dollars. At 5:30 in the afternoon an alarm came from box No. 24, corner Davie and Blood- worth Sts. This, also, was put out as s jon as it was discovered, and the dam ages were insignificant. About six shingles were burned on a house owned by Mr. Wm. Blake, 309 East, Martin St W. H. & R. S. Tucker & Co. Notice.
