New Bern, Oct. 9. The beautiful
new edifice of the. Centenary Method
ist Episcopal church,1 South, will be
dedicated Sunday, October 2 2d, by
Bishop' Duncan, of South Carolina.
The dedicatory exercises will continue
through the week; the servlcea-each
day will be conducted by a preacher
who has been a former pastor of the
church
The dedication is .postponed from
last spring, the same having been set
for May 21, but the committee hav
ing been disappointed in several par
ticulars by failure of essential prepa
tiona it was-decided to put the exer
cises off Until fall, when all arrange
ments would be made in full. The
programme is about the same as was
published-early in May.
The church Is one. of the finest
buildings In the -South. aThe archi
tect's expense alone is $60,000, and
the furnishings amount to - enough
to make the total cost $80,000.

has had responses from some of these
who have accepted his invitation.

that they will be, on hand. The Gov
ernor may come in a private car in
order to get an early start home the
next morning. Senators Overman
and Simmons are expected.

Invite Governor Meyward, of South
Carolina, to be here and meet the
President and say to the Governor of
North Carolina -what a former Gov
ernor of this State once said to a
former Governor of South Carolina.
The following programme has been.

ing of twenty-one guns ,by the 'Char
