r 3 ITHE RALEIGH EVENING TIMES, FRIDAY, JUNE, 22, 1906. WEATHER FORECAST. ' (By the Associated Press.) . Washington,- June 22. Forecast for North- Carolina for tonight and Satur. day; c. ' . .. -; Partly cloudy tonight and Saturday; variable; winds. . . The area of low pressure which was north of the lakes yesterday has com - bined with another low which was : over the northwest territory yester day, and now forms a depression ex tending from the lakes In a southwest erly direction to Arizona and New Mexico, with two distinct centers, one over Lake Superior and the other over Nebraska. These lows have caused rains along the lakes and In the At lantic moast states; also In western 'Washington and Montana. In the extreme northwest the pressure is ris ing. In general .the temperature has risen west of the Mississippi river, while east of this river It has fallen slightly. Maximum temperatures of over 90 degrees occurred in the south ern portion of the country yesterday, the highest being 108 degrees at Phoe nix. At Jupiter 2.02 inches of rain was reported. The low pressure area to the west will probably continue to move eastward and will cause partly cloudy weather in this vicinity tonight and Saturday. A. H. THIESSEN, Section Director. PUBLISH "THE MOON." Mr. A. V. Rockery to Edit Demo cratic Paper This Year. Mr. A. V. Dockery announces that ho will commence the publication of "The Moon" next August at Raleigh. Mr. Dockery says: "It is so-named In order to give self-rccognized smart folks an op portunity to fool with fun. "It will bo republican of the moss back variety, and it will counsel every white man in North Carolina to vote the democratic ticket this year as a rebuke to degenerate lead ership. "It will bo hot. "It will not deal in senile poesy nor pdpulistic heresy. "It will not of course belong to the Butler party. "It will not favor punny politics nor glance at womanly men. "It will stand for every business interest in this country, big as well as little. "It will cost two dollars a year in advance, will stop coming when a subscription expires, and will make just as many rounds as there may be moons in the year. "Night light is needed as well as Daylight." ; the deciding factors. The board of al- ' rtF.rmpn rni-PHflnt thf npnnlA of th pitv. 1 fand the people of the city have asked for an election. We, the petitioners, have complied with the requirements of the law. The aldermen can but do their duty by granting the same. They are not the law makers or Judges, neither are we, as citizens. The laws row on our statute books are what we are governed by. Let no one show tlie "white feather" by requesting their names to be with drawn from the petition, thus leaving the ranks of these who are asking for prohibition and falling in line with the would be czar and his followers. - S. To the Public: I have been requested by friends of prohibition to say something in order to counteract false reports being circulat ed. It has been said, and the report circulated, that the salooons could come back should the dispensary be vt)tcd out. Before starting the peti tion I consulted the best authority jn the subject, and was informed that "the law was ample for prohibition," and by others that "license could not be grant ed for salooons until salooons had been voted back." When the dispensary was voted in the saloons wereyoted out. Let no one who has signed the petition bo frightened into withdrawing their names. We have asked for a vote on prohibition. The required number of qualified voters of the city have asked tho board to order an election. The beard is bound by law to grant their request. They can but do this.
