THE WEATHER (By Leased Wire to The Times.) Washington, Sept. 17 Forecast for North Carolina for tonight and Friday: Fair tonight and Friday; light var iable winds. Dogs! Dogs! Dogs! Dogs continue to annoy peaceful citizens. A gentleman who lives on Newbern Avenue says that last night there were at least a dozen dogs around his house. They kept him awake a large part of the night. Maj. Bill Utley, guardian at the Governor's Mansion, reports a canine carnival held on the lawn there last night. Mr. Utley looked tired and sleepy this morning. "They kept me awake, and I didn't get much fun out of it, myself," said Maj. Utley, "but the dogs seemed to enjoy it. From the caine standpoint the gathering must have been a howl ing success." THE GEM TALKING PICTURES REPEATING BY REQUEST BUNKER HILL. HOME, SWEET HOME. SILENT REELS FEATURING "THE KEXTUCKIAN." After the drill he will address the students of that institution. On Monday night the officers and faculty of the col lege will occupy special boxes at the performance of "Classmates." At The Gem. By special request the Gem Thea tre are re-running today two of the Cameraphone pictures. "Bunker Hill" was shown at the Gem last Saturday night and "Home, Sweet Home," the song, was produced there last night. Both of these subjects are very interesting. The feature in the silent picture for today is "The Kentucklan,": pro duced from; the book of that title. In this picture seven different scenes are shown, and they are all good. "SMART SET." . v S. H. Dudley, who stands in the front rank of colored comedians, will be seen in a new piece this season with the "Smart Sot." The play is called "The Black Politician." It is in three acts and will be the next at traction at the Academy of Music, September 18. '"The Black politi cian" may be rightly termed a com edy success with music. Besides convulsing the audience with whole some .relishing laughter, it also thrills. The situations are side-splitting and the action is speedy and consistent. As Hezekiah Dee, S. H. Dudley has a role that fits him like a kid glove. He is nothing more than a race track tour in the play, but- when requested to pose as a great politician he rises to the situa tion with all the grace and dignity of an old campaigner. There are in numerable features in this rollicking offering, but to swell on a few of all of them would be to deprive the pa trons of the Academy of a genuine treat.
