PAGE TWO THE EVENING TIMES. RALEIGH. N. 0. W BASE M BALL IP and Otherr Sports Winder R. Harris, Sporting Editor. JZ? C SPORTING SIDELIGHTS. A great effort Is. being made to get the Universities of North Carolina and Virginia to play off the tie game in this city. The Red Birds cross bats today with the Wake Forest boys, with Pope on the firing line for Wake For est. . Some changes are likely to be made in the Raleigh line up for the next two or three games. Every man wants a chance for a position. Monday, May 10th, only one week more before the league opens. a . The A. & M. team is in Goldsboro today playing the leaguers of that city. Poor old Charlotte! She is again at the bottom of the percentage col umn. . Prof. Yelverton, of the Winston Salem Journal, is getting right "chesty" now. His team is at the top ot the percentage column in the Caro lina League. It has been suggested that all the business houses of the city close Mon day week at 3 o'clock, or in time for the opening game. This seems to be a good suggestion and should meet the approval of every merchant. You will not only have an opportunity of seeing the Red Birds win the first game, but you will help "swell" the amount in the treasury of the association, which is not overflowing just at the beginning of the season. Let some one take hold and push this through. "Bud" Hinton and Herbert Rosen thal have had the baseball fever for some weeks now. ' An umpire in the South Atlantic League has just been discharged. Charges were preferred against him for betting, on a team. Gee! but this Is fine weather for baseball. ...'.. ..,. . To Professor Yelverton. We request the honor of your pres ence at the opening game of baseball, ' Raleigh vs. . ' Fayetteville, May 17th, nineteen hundred and nine, Raleigh Athletic Field, 4 P. M. R. S. V. P. All baseball lovers In this city are looking forward to Monday's game between the University of North Car olina and the Red Birds with a great deal of pleasure. Carolina's season has been the most successful in the past few years. The team is compos ed of fast fielders and hard hitters. Stewart is considered by many to be the equal of any college pitcher in the state, and if the Red Birds hit him successfully, they may be de pended upon to land upon the twirl ers in this league. On the other hand, the Red Birds do not intend to lose a. single prac tice game. Big Brandon will most probably be on the firing line and what he will do to the Varsity boys Receipt ThatCures Weak Men Free Send Name and Address Today You Can Have it Free and be Strong and Vigorous. . I have in my possession a prescrip tion for nervous debility, lack of vigor, weakened manhood, failing memory and lame back, brought on by excesses, unnatural drains or the folles of youth, that bas cured so many worn and nervous men right in their own homes without any additional help or med icine that I think every man who wishes to regain his manly power and virility, quickly and quietly, should have a copy. So, I have determined to send a copy of the prescription, free of charge. In a plain, ordinary sealed envelope, to any man who will write me for it. This prescription comes from a phy sician who has made a special study of men, and I am convinced It Is the surest-acting combination for the cure of deficient manhood and vigor-failure ever put together. I think I owe it to my fellow man to send them a copy In confidence, so that any man, anywhere who is weak and discouraged with repeated failures may stop drugging himself with harm ful patent medicines, secure what, I believe, Is the quickest-acting, restor ative, upbuilding; SPOT-TOUCHING remedy ever devised, and so, cure him self at, home quietly and quickly. Just drop me a line like this: Dr. A. E. Hoblneon, 481 Luek Bide, Detroit, Utah., and I will send you a copy of this splendid receipt, la a plain, ordi nary sealed envelope, free of charge. WtVMVWfc VYV 1 , will be A. P. Will you be on hand? Well, I should smile. Raleigh simply has a star team. There is not a weakling on it and in all that maelstrom yesterday there was not an error. Trinity's great ba.se playing alone saved the day. The six errors had heavy penalties and the hard raps could not have stopped the runaway. With that team in perfect shape, it is hardly to be believed that any eastern team can hope to have a chance at the pen nant. Durham Herald. YESTERDAY'S RESULTS. National League.
