The citizens soon assembled in crowds. The shop was completely enveloped in flames, and had an alarmingappearance; and what greatly increased the danger and disorder, was, that no , one j knew what steps to take. ' Though provisions were long since made for a Fire Com pany, nothing of the kind appeared on the ground. ; It was some time before the Engine, Fire-Hooks, Ladders, or .Water could be got.
