If the bill receive the sanction of the President, therefore, of w hich there i little tloubt, it will become a law, and by a stron ger vote, probably, than any act of a like character has ever received in Congress. This is the most important act, so far, of the present session ; ! particularly with reference to the commercial convention of Great Bri- tain, vvhich expires in the course of next vear by its own limitation. The a j necessity for the act has been p ap parent, as to overcome the reluctance to pass it, which, at the last session, caused its postponement; and the vote it has received may be regarded as a pledge of rigid adherence by Con gress to the policy it discloses.
